Hypnotherapy From time to time we find ourselves unable to combat fears, anxieties, phobias and habits not because we are weak, but because our conscious mind has been bombarded with negativity so much that it prevents any positive message from penetrating to the subconscious mind. It is the subconscious mind that ensures we are able to perform tasks without thinking about them, it is the subconscious mind that moves the hand to light another cigarette or place another sweet into the mouth. When the conscious mind is put into a sleeping state beneficial suggestions to increase your will power and combat your fears can be placed into the subconscious mind. Many people see hypnotherapy as the easy way out. Perhaps you have been advised by your GP to reduce your weight or stop smoking. You don't want to, but you feel that you must. It is important to realise that, while hypnotherapy can help you to change these habits, you must first be 100% committed to working with your therapist. If you are not willing to change the chances are you will not change for a very long time. However, the very fact that you are willing to make and keep an appointment shows some level of commitment and, provided you are completely honest with the therapist, it is possible to work through your resistance. This may mean extra treatment dates in order to first break down the barrier and discover why you have anchored to your bad habit.
